Leeds United, promoted back into the Premier League for next season, has 26,000 supporters currently on its season ticket waiting list. To address this, and generate revenue to keep it in the top tier of English football, it is planning to increase the capacity of its Elland Road stadium from 37,645 to up to 56,500.
Outlined plans to modernise and improve the stadium by rebuilding the North and West stands were first revealed last September. Now it has released images showing the designs of architect KSS, supported by Buro Happold.
Last week, Leeds City Council’s executive board unanimously agreed the club’s wider regeneration vision and councillors will now be discussing the pre-application for the modernisation of Elland Road Stadium at a plans panel meeting on Thursday 8th May.
Public exhibition are being held next month for fans and locals to submit feedback ahead of an imminent planning application.
