Ferrovial improves UK profits

For the year to 31st December 2024, Ferrovial Construction (UK) made a pre-tax profit of £14.1m (2023: £5.5m) on revenue largely unchanged at £532m (2023: £527m).

The £1.2m operating loss seen in 2023 became an operating profit of £7.1m in 2024.

The Spanish civil engineering contractor targets large complex projects in the UK, often in joint venture, which as a result can make its turnover and order book oscillate. In 2023 Ferrovial Construction (UK) won no new work. The order book had been worth £1bn at the start of 2022; by the end of 2023 it was down below £650m.

However, today, thanks to its of £1,800m HS2 track systems contract in partnership with Bam Nuttall and the £230m National Grid Tilbury Grain Kingsnorth upgrade project with Bemo Tunnelling, the order book stands at nearly £1.4bn.

The annual report shows that the highest paid director, presumably managing director Karl Goose, saw his total emoluments for the year increase by 25% from £421,000 to £526,000
