Galliford Try intends to build a 33-storey tower block on the site of an old Indian restaurant to the southwest of the city centre, close to Milton Keynes Central railway station.
The 599 Grafton Gate scheme will have 302 one- and two-bedroom flats for rent with commercial spaces at ground floor level.
Communal amenities will include a fitness studio, a games room and a residents’ lounge, along with flexible workspace and a private dining area. There will also be terraces on the 10th and 29th floors.
Galliford Try will now be developing the design information necessary to obtain a Gateway 2 approval under the Building Safety Act before starting works on site.
Galliford Try Investments managing director Phil Harris said: “We are delighted to have been successful in achieving planning permission for the 599 Grafton Gate scheme, which adds to our growing portfolio of PRS developments across the UK.
“This is our first PRS scheme in Milton Keynes as a developer/contractor and we look forward to working with the council planning department on future PRS opportunities in the city. 599 Grafton Gate will deliver high quality, professionally managed new homes for local people in Milton Keynes and we look forward to commencing construction in the near future.”
